Camivex

Doitech International

The short version

Camivex has no user accounts, no advertising, and no analytics or crash-reporting service. Your videos, stills, annotations and settings stay on the device they were made on. We operate no service that receives them, and we could not read them if we wanted to.

Information we collect

None. Camivex does not ask you to register, does not create a profile, and does not transmit your captures, file names, camera addresses or usage to Doitech International or to any third party. There is no server-side copy of anything you do in the app.

Camera access

Camivex asks the operating system for permission to use the camera, and uses it only to show you the live picture and to record or capture it when you ask. The camera is never started without that permission, and it is released when you leave the live view or quit the app. On mobile platforms the camera and microphone permissions are those the operating system grants to the app; declining them leaves the rest of the app usable.

Where your captures are stored

Stills and recordings are written to the app's own folder in your device's application documents directory, in the collections you create. Alongside them the app keeps small hidden sidecar files: a JPEG thumbnail per recording, the annotations drawn on a capture, the editing history of a processed image, a protected original for images you have overwritten, and a record of how a capture was taken (camera or address, settings, time). These are ordinary files on your device and are removed with the capture they belong to.

Network connections

When you add a network camera, Camivex connects directly from your device to the RTSP address you entered, and to its optional WebSocket control endpoint if the camera has one. The address, and any credentials you type into it, are stored only on your device. Doitech International is not an intermediary in those connections and has no access to them.

Camivex also ships with sample clips and, when you switch the samples on in Settings, a built-in public demonstration camera. The demonstration camera is hosted for everyone to try.

Do not rely on the demonstration camera for anything private. It is a public stream shared with other users and may show whatever is in front of it. Use your own camera for anything confidential, and do not point the demonstration stream at people or places that should not be seen publicly.

Sharing and exporting

When you share a capture, the file is handed to your operating system's share sheet, or written to a download folder you choose. What happens next is governed by the app or service you send it to. Sharing an annotated still sends a copy with the marks drawn into the picture; the copy in your library is left as it was.

Logs and diagnostics

Camivex can show a debug read-out and keep a short in-memory log, which you switch on yourself in Settings. That log stays in memory while the app runs, is never uploaded, and is discarded when the app closes. Nothing is reported to us automatically.

Purchases

Camivex itself is free. An optional paid edition, Camivex Pro, can be bought from inside the app. On Windows and Linux the payment is processed by Stripe, our payment processor: Stripe handles your card details and we never see them. We receive the email address you give at checkout and a device identifier, we keep those on your device, and we send them to our licence server to confirm the purchase. On iOS and Android, purchases are handled by the applicable store (Apple or Google) and we receive only what those stores provide to every developer — typically an order identifier and no payment details.

Data security

Your captures are protected by the security of your device: the app sandbox, your user account or device passcode, and any disk encryption the platform provides. Camivex supports RTSP over TLS where the camera offers it, but a camera that publishes an unencrypted stream is as private as the network it is on. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Children's privacy

Camivex is a camera tool intended for professional and general use, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because everything stays on your device, you can exercise your rights directly: open the gallery to view or delete a capture, use the app's delete actions to remove a capture with its annotations and editing history, delete the app's folder in your file manager, or uninstall the app to remove all of its data. There is no copy held by us to request, correct or erase. If you believe otherwise, or you are in the EEA and want to exercise a GDPR right, or you are a California resident exercising a CCPA right, contact us at the address below and we will answer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in app updates and posted at this URL. Your continued use of Camivex after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
